It may be just a wee bit too far to travel to Ireland to kiss the Blarney Stone, but you can still celebrate like the Irish at The Kahala with Irish entertainment, food and drink specials. Chef Wayne Hirabayashi makes his corned beef with a flare of the islands. First, he brines the beef brisket for four days and then slowly braises it for 4-6 hours until it is fork-tender. The plate is then finished with homegrown Kunia Farms cabbage, heirloom carrots, and Yukon gold potatoes served with The Kahala's special three-mustard blend. Enjoy a glass of hearty Guinness with your corned beef plate and toast the luck of the Irish. And for a clean finish, try The Veranda's special Irish Coffee.

50TH ANNIVERSARY "HUKILAU" AND POLYNESIAN BUFFET

Friday, March 21, 2014; 5:00 pm at Plumeria Beach House

$125.00 per person (not including tax and gratuity)

Reservations: Call (808) 739-8760; E-mail restaurants@kahalaresort.com

As a part of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee, The Kahala Hotel & Resort brings back the Hukilau ceremony for one night only. A Hukilau is a traditional way of fishing in Hawaii. The word comes from huki, meaning pull, and lau, meaning leaves. A large number of people, usually family and friends, would work together in casting the net from shore and then pulling it back. The net was lined with ti leaves, which would help scare the fish into the center of the net. The ceremony was performed every weekend in The Kahala's early days before guests dined at a Polynesian Buffet.

The Plumeria Beach House honors this Kahala tradition with a Hukilau event before sitting down to a sumptuous Polynesian style buffet dinner as our musicians and hula dancers entertain you. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to go down Memory Lane with The Kahala.
