Honolulu -- The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) Storm Water Quality Branch is scheduled to begin reconstruction work on the main parking lot and access road at the Ala Wai Golf Course fronting the clubhouse (Parking Lot #1) beginning on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, weather permitting.

The reconstruction of Parking Lot #1 will be done in two phases, which will result in half of the parking lot being closed for the duration of the project (see project diagram). During Phase 1A, the Ewa/makai section of the main parking lot will be closed, and upon completion the mauka-section of the main parking lot will be closed for Phase 1B.

The Ala Wai Golf Course will remain open and accessible throughout the duration of the project and patrons are advised to utilize the available alternate parking lots: the Diamond Head Overflow Parking Lot and the Driving Range Parking Lot.

These partial parking lot closures are expected to be finished by fall 2018.

Motorists visiting the golf course are asked to drive with caution in the construction area and obey all posted signs.

Reconstruction of the access road is scheduled to begin in the summer during the last phase of the project and will include asphalt repaving, striping, and bio-retention basins.
