Chef Wayne Hirabayashi and his culinary team have taken the traditional New England style clam bake and given it an island twist with local ingredients and sustainable seafood items. Chef Jeremy Shigekane has created a special prix fixe dining experience in Hoku's in celebration of The Kahala's 50th anniversary. The 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee Menu in Hoku's will be featured at dinner nightly, Wednesday through Sunday, July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014. The year long gourmet offer is specially priced at $196.40 for two persons (not including tax and gratuity) to celebrate the hotel's anniversary grand opening year, 1964. The menu begins with an amuse bouche of the chef's choice followed by a first course of Oysters "Rockefeller" Tempura served with creamed baby spinach, crisp Serrano ham, Manchego cheese, and anise. The second course follows and includes Beef Short Rib Consommé with Aji Amarillo short rib ravioli and baby bok choi. For a third course, gourmands will enjoy the poached fresh island catch served with cucumber noodles, house made potato chips, and three-caviar beurre blanc. The main course prepared fresh by the chef will feature Tournedos Rossini--a pan roasted filet mignon perfectly cooked to the guest's preference and garnished with foie gras, roasted potatoes, and truffled red wine jus. For dessert, splurge on the Fresh Seasonal Berry Jubilee topped with Grand Marnier and served with ice cream. The prix fixe menu is available every night to celebrate the hotel's auspicious 50th anniversary party and may also be prepared for private parties of ten or more as a Chef's Table Grand Experience for a birthday party, anniversary or other special occasion with advance reservations.

The Sunday Scene at The Kahala's Veranda lounge begins at 7:30 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m. This weekly live music event celebrates and showcases the best of Hawaii's musicians performing many genres of contemporary music, from Hawaiian contemporary to blues to reggae to soft jazz. The musicians change weekly, but the venue is always the same--comfy, cozy, and serving cuisine and cocktails that are creative and delicious. Enjoy assorted appetizer selections such as flat bread pizzas and "ducked" Brussels sprouts, small plates, salads, entrees, and casual dessert fare. The Veranda's new global cuisine-inspired menu is new and different and creates unusually good companions to the mixologist's creative cocktails.
